ABOUT KOOLRIVER ADVENTURE TOURS
Welcome
Don Koolmees, President of Koolriver Adventure Tours
has been white water rafting for over 20 years (this is actually his 24th
season). He started this whitewater rafting company in 1995 with a commitment
to provide you with the best and safest river rafting experience possible. He
continues to work the rafting trips as a guide, and he loves it! Spending a day
on the river is still a special and wonderful experience for him, and he wants
to share that with you! In 2006 Koolriver Adventures purchased Whitewater Connection, in Coloma CA
Guides The staff is handpicked from the finest available
locally and from around the world. We are dedicated to quality and special
attention to you as an individual and to your enjoyment and safety. Our goal is
for you to have the most fun and enjoyment on whatever trips that you choose to
go on.
Who Can Go? We have rafting experiences for you from
beginning Class II trips, to thrilling Class V rafting adventures.
Equipment All of the equipment is state of the art top
quality whitewater rafting gear. The self-bailing rafts are the finest made in
the world. The life jackets are specially designed for whitewater use and are
approved by the U.S. Coast Guard. Each of the trips carries a full safety and
emergency kit.
Safety K.A.T. has an excellent safety record. All of the
guides are certified in first aid and CPR. A majority of the staff is certified
in Swift Water Rescue.
Cuisine Great food and plenty of it! Our bountiful deli
lunches, where you make your own masterpiece from a plentiful variety of
ingredients. Dinners with steak, lobster and chicken and fresh salad bar, baked
potatoes, garlic bread with freshly baked desserts. Also free flowing drinks
and refreshments.
What to Bring No special equipment is needed. After
receiving your deposit, we will provide a complete list of items we recommend
you bring. We also have a camp store on the South Fork of the American for any
forgotten essentials.
When to raft We start on April 1 for those who are looking
for a little extra action and excitement with the spring runoff. When the
spring runoff subsides, and summer fully arrives, water flows remain fairly
consistent and temperatures rise to the 90 degrees until mid September and the
last trips are usually the first week of October.
