DIRECTIONS TO THE SOUTH FORK AMERICAN
FROM SACRAMENTO
Proceed east on highway 50 toward South Lake
Tahoe, approximately 35 miles until you see Sam’s Town on your right.
Continue 1 mile and exit at Shingle Springs-Ponderosa Road off ramp. At the top
of the off ramp (stop sign) turn left over the freeway. Make an immediate right
turn north of the freeway onto North Shingle Road. Proceed on North Shingle
Road for 4.5 miles to a “Y” in the road. At the “Y” bear
left onto Lotus Road. Follow Lotus Road 6.9 miles until it dead ends at Highway
49. Turn right and continue 300 feet to Point Pleasant Beach on your left. Turn
left and follow the road marked Whitewater Connection to our camp. Driving time
is approximately 1 hour.
FROM AUBURN
Take Highway 49 south 18 miles to Coloma. As you
enter the town of Coloma you will cross a bridge over the South Fork of the
American River. 500 feet past the bridge turn left at Point Pleasant Beach.
Take the road marked Whitewater Connection to our camp. Driving time is
approximately 30 minutes.
FROM PLACERVILLE
Take Highway 49 north 8 miles to Coloma.
Continue through Coloma ¼ mile past Marshall Gold Discovery Park. Turn
right at Point Pleasant Beach. Follow the road marked Whitewater Connection to
our camp. Driving time is approximately 20 minutes.
Campers
Check the arrival board located directly in front
of our camp kitchen for your designated camp site. Please camp where designated
or contact our staff before setting up camp.
Please Note
The road from Highway 49 to our camp is
privately owned and passes directly in front of the owner’s home. It is
the only access to our camp and we are fortunate to have a right of way. We ask
that you help us minimize our impact on our neighbor by driving slowly,
watching for children and not exceeding 5 m.p.h.
If you are arriving in the
evening before your trip, make arrangements to arrive before 11:00 pm as our
gate is closed and locked at that time. If you are unable to arrive before
11:00 pm please arrange camping at one of the local campgrounds.
